ESNAL

The SOCRATES project ESNAL - European Service Network Adults Learning – was coordinated by the European Association for the Education of Adults from 1999 to 2001. It was aimed at building a reference point to supply adult educators and especially those playing a leading role in organisations of adult education, both at national and European level, with a variety of services supporting their work. ESNAL is a specialised network of accompanying services offered by existing national organisations in the field of information and documentation of adult education (research, dissemination, evaluation and quality assurance) centralised in one European institution.

The project:

• creates, reinforces and enlarges the network of higher specialised services supplied by adult education institutions

• offers a virtual network based on ICT

• inter-connect and make available all relevant results of previous projects whose products can be distributed via www

• further up-date databases on adult education relevant from the ESNAL point of view

• produces new information tools on adult education key matters

Im Projekt ESNAL wurde eine Supportstruktur mit Serviceleistungen auf europäischer Ebene (Datenbanken, virtuelle Akademie, Aufbau von Expertennetzwerken, Statistik, Überblick über Akkreditierungsmodelle u.a.) aufgebaut. Das DIE beteiligte sich im ersten Projektjahr mit Subprojekten zu den Themen Qualitätssicherung und Europäische Statistik zur Erwachsenenbildung, die im zweiten Projektjahr fortgeführt wurden.

Die ESNAL-Koordination lag bei der European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA), das DIE war der deutsche Projektpartner.
