New Learning Pathways for Adults

The aim of this project, based on a cross-sectoral partnership from seven countries (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Latvia, Portugal and Spain) is to provide an overview of lifelong learning strategies which encourage the adaptation and transfer of information and practice between formal and informal approaches and between different sectors of education and training and their associated professions. It focuses on strategies which

• Increase DEMAND for learning through innovative approaches to promotion, marketing and outreach; seeking to widen participation among adults who traditionally, underparticipate in organised learning;

• improve the quality of SUPPLY by contributing to the initial and continuing professional development of those involved in helping adult to learn.

It is prompted by a growing need to encourage more open systems of education and training which encourage recurrent learning; promote social inclusion; equality of opportunity; greater flexibility and learner-centredness among professionals.

The outcomes of the project include analytical reviews and a number of case studies, on the topics:

• Innovative approaches to promotion, marketing and outreach in adult learning

• New trends in professional formation and updating in occupations associated with adult learning

• Innovative trends in raising demand for learning among adults at risk of exclusion.

In allen Ländern der Europäischen Union besteht ein wachsender Bedarf an offeneren Weiterbildungsstrukturen, die höhere Flexibilität und Teilnehmerorientierung aufweisen, lebenslanges Lernen ermöglichen und unterstützen und durch Erhöhung der Bildungsbeteiligung Chancengleichheit und soziale Inklusion fördern. Ziel dieses internationalen Netzwerkprojektes ist es, den Austausch über existierende bildungspolitische Strategien zu fördern, Adaptation und Transfer zu ermöglichen und Innovation und gute Praxis zu verbreiten und anzuregen. Hierzu werden vorhandene Ansätze und Praxisbeispiele in allen beteiligten Ländern ermittelt, analytisch aufbereitet und grenzüberschreitend durch Publikationen und Tagungen verbreitet. Koordiniert wird das Projekt vom Consortium of European Research and Development Institutes for Adult Education, ERDI. Das Partnernetzwerk umfasst Organisationen aus Belgien, Dänemark, Deutschland, Lettland, Spanien, Portugal und Griechenland.
