The article presents the European development of new learning centres as well as educational and cultural centres, in which adult education institutions and libraries continue to merge. The author depicts three examples of these new institutions, which are increasingly becoming an element of educational urban development.
This article describes the attempt to reveal the most suitable methods of learning for learners of the German language without previous knowledge of the Latin alphabet (Literacy DaZ Courses). Seven different methods of learning are compared in four different courses so that each syllabus will be mediated in one course with method A and in another with method B and so on. Virtual interaction or virtual silence? Setting out from the point of her study on resisting learning in the internet and a short clarification of her conception of learning, the author explores substantiation samples for the virtual silence in interactive situations when learning with the medium internet.
The main emphasis of this article is on how to deal with value conflicts in teaching/learning situations in adult and continuing education against the backdrop of current social challenges. Based on the description and interpretation of a case study from an integration course, the author suggests possibilities of how to prepare teachers for acting in a pedagogically appropriate and ethical manner.
Abstract: The paper describes trends of convergence and divergence in enterprise-provided continuing vocational training in Europe between 1999 and 2005. Based on the survey CVTS, the indicators for courses incidence, access, intensity, direct costs and the indicator learning at the workplace will be analyzed. The paper concludes with an outlook with references to sketches of an educational theory to be written for this field of adult education.
