How can a web-based learning environment be used to support and promote the continuing professional development, skills acquisition and professionalisation of teachers in adult education?
The EULE project aims to implement the theoretical, conceptual and didactic foundations developed in the BMBF-funded KELLE project for designing a learning portal for teachers in adult and continuing education. The project will expand the DIE's 'wb-web' information and networking portal to include learning resources for adult educators designed to stimulate and actively promote skill acquisition. Content will be prepared in a didactic manner and implemented technically so that users are met at their own level of knowledge and in line with their specific interests.
The online learning programme is designed to significantly contribute to the professional development of continuing education staff. The learning resources developed as part of the project primarily address two aspects of professionalisation. Firstly, content is developed in consultation with numerous partners from the field that is based on internationally recognised quality standards for educational staff and, consequently, empirically grounded teaching theories. Secondly, based on learning theory considerations, competence acquisition processes are directly linked to educational practice, promising problem-oriented, practical engagement with the developed learning content. This approach addresses the practical demands of everyday educational practice, catering for different levels of prior knowledge and experience.
