Anschliessend an eine kurzen Einführung in die Methodik des Zeitzeugeninterviews werden zentrale Kritikpunkte und Problematisierungen des zeitgeschichtlichen Quellenwerts dieser Textgattung untersucht. Als Kritikpunkte werden benannt: das Problem des Erinnerns, das Vorhandensein institutionalisierter Erzählmuster und die Situation der Textproduktion. Zum Abschluss werden Konsequenzen für den Umgang mit Erzählungen formuliert.

Durch diese besondere Auswahl, die Quellentexte und die (teilweise erstveröffentlichten) Fotografien öffnet sich der Blick auf die Geschichte der Erwachsenenbildung und ermöglicht neue Interpretationen.
