Data on adult education centres kept since 1962 shows interesting longitudinal historical results regarding time structures for adult education classes offered at adult education centres: (1) The increase in continuing education activities which can be observed on the whole is only accounted for by course-type classes, not by individual classes. Adult education for people without school graduation or graduation from vocaltional training Report on a study for the OECD Germany participated in the partial undertaking “adult learning of the low educated and low skilled” within the OECD-programme “Thematic review on adult learning: The second round”. The contribution describes the decrease of the level of qualification of the younger population and from this it names the resulting requirements to adult education.

Im Berichtsjahr 2024 liegen bei einer Ausschöpfungsquote von rund 99 Prozent Daten für 821 der insgesamt 827 Volkshochschulen vor.
