Die Corona-bedingte Schließung von Einrichtungen der Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung hat vor allem diejenigen Lehrenden hart getroffen, die freiberuflich Kurse leiten. Am Beispiel der Volkshochschulen zeigt die Autorin, welche Auswirkungen die Pandemie für Solo-Selbständige hatte und wie Einrichtungen und Politik reagiert haben.
Bildung im Alter zielt auf Orientierung und erweiterte Handlungsspielräume sowie auf Vernetzung in der realen und digitalen Welt – um den Herausforderungen und Chancen beim Älterwerden positiv begegnen zu können. Als erfolgversprechend erweist sich der Ansatz, dass das Bildungspersonal in Einrichtungen der Erwachsenenbildung als Lern- und Engagementbegleitung engagierte Digitalpat*innen weiterbildet und in deren Praxis fachlich unterstützt.

Ist »Haltung« ein Thema in der Erwachsenenbildung? Sie sollte es sein, argumentiert der Autor – denn Erwachsenenbildung hat einen normativen Auftrag, der sich in der Haltung der Lehrenden spiegeln muss. Die aktuelle Gefährdung von Demokratie und offener Gesellschaft macht es gerade heute notwendig, Haltung zu haben und zu zeigen.
Anstelle des alltäglichen Gebens und Nehmens als Teil pädagogischen Handelns sollte – so der Autor – das Lehren als Geben ohne Erwartung von Gegenleistung verstanden werden. Als Teil einer Ethik der Anerkennung führe eine solche Haltung dazu, utilitaristische Bildungsvorstellungen zu überwinden und Lernende wie Lehrende als eigenständige Subjekte anzuerkennen.
