Etymologically contemplated, »validation« labels a process though which an object is awarded sturdiness or worthiness. In the educational area the word - under consideration listed in the series »glossary« here – aims at the process of acknowledgement and on making use of informally acquired competencies. The term »validation« is therewith the counterpart in the area of informal learning for »certification« in contexts of formal education.
In his presentation, Paul J. Edelson describes the current state of American adult education and refers to historical backgrounds in the process. He examines the "Learning Society" in the age of technology, i.e. the impacts of computers and the internet on education. He also touches on the American further education market and delineates possible ‘pictures’ and approaches to further education.
Die beiden Bände zum Thema Multimedia sind im Rahmen des Projektes "Pädagogische Innovation mit Multimedia in der Erwachsenenbildung", das vom Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft, Forschung und Technologie (BMBF) gefördert wurde, entstanden.
