Im Juni 2001 organisierte die Konzertierte Aktion Weiterbildung (KAW) eine Fachtagung zur Qualitätsentwicklung in der Weiterbildung. Das hier vorliegende Thesenpapier diskutiert, welche Maßnahmen geeignet sind, aus der jeweiligen Perspektive des Nachfragenden oder der Anbieter Qualität in der Weiterbildung zu sichern.
After the federal elections, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has taken on a new organisational structure. For the first time, its activities in further education are now bundled together in a seperate department (»Lifelong Learning, Further Education«), thus enabling the ministry to »speak with one voice«. On top of this, the superior department is »University, Further Education«, which shows that the two are considered as equivalent from the organisationalpolitical viewpoint.
The "Blue Series" is the DIE's most traditional series of books. It is aimed at researchers and students of adult education as well as academically interested practitioners. Scientific papers on a theoretical and empirical base provide access to adult education research and enhance the transfer of knowledge between practice and research. Over the past 30 years, it contributed significantly to the discipline of adult education.
Further training (FT) is an important element of the modern knowledge economy. Based on expert interviews from four case-study regions, the paper analyses the relevance of markets, hierarchies, and networks as coordination mechanisms in FT, the strategies of providers, and the resulting performance of local FT service systems.
