The main emphasis of this article is on how to deal with value conflicts in teaching/learning situations in adult and continuing education against the backdrop of current social challenges. Based on the description and interpretation of a case study from an integration course, the author suggests possibilities of how to prepare teachers for acting in a pedagogically appropriate and ethical manner.

Die Höhere Bauernschule wird in der zeitgenössischen Bezeichnung „Pflanzschule für tüchtige Communevorsteher und Ständedeputierte“ (1841) genannt. Ihr geistiger Begründer war Carl Friedrich Hermann Klenze (1795-1878). Sie war die erste Heimvolkshochschule in Deutschland, bestand jedoch nur bis 1849. Der pädagogische Ansatz der „Pflanzschule“ kann als ein früher Versuch der Integration politisch-allgemeiner und beruflicher Fortbildung gelten.

In the person of the „quality developer“, the concepts of the staff and the organisational developer merge in a common striving for more excellence.
