Das Buch führt in die Geschichte der Erwachsenenbildung ein. Dabei geht der Autor geht nicht rein chronologisch vor, sondern diskutiert im historischen Zusammenhang die verschiedene Aspekte der Erwachsenenbildung wie "Erwachsenenbildung als Institution", "Erwachsenenbildung als Wissenschaft", "Erwachsenenbildung als Beruf" und neu in der 3. Die Inhalte der einzelnen Studieneinheiten orientierten sich an den wichtigsten Tätigkeitsbereichen von hauptberuflichen pädagogischen MitarbeiterInnen an Volkshochschulen: Programmplanung einerseits und Lehren und Lernen mit Erwachsenen andererseits. Berücksichtigt werden darüber hinaus der gesellschaftliche Bedingungsrahmen von Erwachsenenbildung sowie organisatorische und institutionelle Probleme. Die Reihe wurde 1995 von den "Studientexten für Erwachsenenbildung" abgelöst.

Works councils handle many conflicts. This article pursues the issue how works councils acquire knowledge and competences for dealing with various conflict settings and the significance of programmes in educational institutions for work councils. To pursue the question, the author connects her research findings on learning in work conflicts to the development in practical institutional education for works councils.
Bildungsberatung gilt seit Langem als Eckpfeiler eines funktionierenden Systems lebenslangen Lernens. Die Frage nach den Wirkungen von Beratung ist indes noch nicht gut erforscht. So rücken Fragen der Nutzenstiftung von Beratung in den Mittelpunkt: Welche Wirkungen hat Weiterbildungsberatung auf die Weiterbildungsbeteiligung? Nutzen Bildungsanbieter Erkenntnisse aus der Beratung zur Entwicklung ihrer Programmplanung? Welche Zufriedenheit generieren Beratungsstellen bei den Ratsuchenden?
