Self-controlling of learning processes – a basic approach of an empirical substanciation In the first part of the contribution a heuristic systematization of the construct of the self-controlling is carried out. Then selected parts of the results of this theme are presented, taken from a representative questioning of the population concerning adult education behaviour and attitudes towards adult education.

Oscar Olsson war einer der treibenden Kräfte beim Aufbau von Study Circle in Schweden Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts. Diese richteten sich an die ärmere Landbevölkerung und Arbeiter. Historisch waren die Study Circle eng mit den Prinzipien der „Popular Education“ in sozialen Bewegungen, insbesondere der Arbeiterbewegung, verbunden.

Cognition, emotion and mental self-regulation: on the nascency and solution of inner conflicts The contribution provides a short overview of several results on nascency and solution of inner conflicts which in the frame of a research programme on mental self-regulation in learning processes of adults were gained. The authors take the model of reproduction contexts, which has been developed by Josef Schrader in order to systematize the adult education sector, as a point of departure to discuss the possibilities of its empirical transfer. Based on the re-analysis of structural data of adult education institutions the problems of transfer of a theoretically developed model are explored. They conclude by outlining impulses for further discussions.
Development of personality competence and central further education barriers in social milieus Presented are partial results of a current Germany-wide empirical qualitative analysis in which the social and regional differentiation of adult education interests and adult education behaviour in the tradition of milieu research are ascertains and interpreted.
