Die vorliegende Kollektion bündelt untergeordnete Kollektionen von Volkshochschul-Programmen, die in der Geschichte einzelner Volkshochschulen entstanden sind. Dabei handelt es sich im Kern um Kollektionen zu deutschen Volkshochschulen, die als Sample für das VHS-Programmarchiv des DIE ausgewählt wurden. Die Programmpläne der Volkshochschulen in diesem Sample werden im DIE-Archiv möglichst vollständig gesammelt.
Im Oktober 2005 jährt sich die Wiedervereinigung zum fünfzehnten Mal. "Mancher Abschied ist schön" betitelte die Deutsche Evangelische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Erwachsenenbildung (DEAE) im Jahre 1994 ein Buch, das "Perspektiven für politische Bildung nach dem Ende der Blockkonfrontation" entworfen hat.
