This article regards the publication of a text-foto-volume on the 100-year-history of the German Volkshochschule as an impulse for a possible innovation of writing history of adult education. Qualification and innovation in the region The contribution of small and medium-sized companies In this contribution the results of a survey of small and medium-sized companies on qualification performances and further education outlays are sketched and follow up points for further results and perspectives of formation are presented.
Can the benefit derived from a course in further education be measured? Which methodological considerations are to be taken into account? It must be defined first of all which indicators are supposed to indicate the benefit. Evaluators and stakeholders must agree on set points. Data have to be collected using the methods of qualitative as well as quantitative research. Under evaluation aspects, anecdotic evidence has no value.
