The article presents experiences gained in educational work in (post) crisis areas based on the work conducted by the DVV in Mali. According to the findings, adult education centres can be successful providers of holistic education programmes. In addition, conditions and factors for success are presented.

Anna Siemsen beschäftigte sich mit einem arbeitsbezogenen Bildungsbegriff und der doppelten Herausforderung der Frauenbildung als hauswirtschaftliche und berufsbildende Aufgabenstellung. Zwischen 1923 und 1933 war sie in vielfältigen Zusammenhängen der Erwachsenenbildung einbezogen. Ihr bedeutendster Artikel zur Erwachsenenbildung „Extensive und intensive Bildung“, indem sie ihre sozialistische Position im Richtungsstreit darlegte, erschien in der Zeitschrift „Sozialistische Bildung“ (1929).
