Biography and Education Biographical aspects are coming increasingly under the focus of teaching-learning and educational research in the context of international comparative studies and the debate over self-organised and self-guided learning. Different theoretical approaches are selected and current empirical findings in the area of biographical research are presented in this issue in order to shed light on the interrelationship between education and biography.

Die Arbeit präsentiert auf der Basis qualitativer Interviews mit ungarischen und deutschen ErwachsenenbildnerInnen die Erfolge und Fehlschläge der jüngeren Kooperation zwischen den beiden Ländern. Über zehn Jahre nach der "Wende" würdigt sie die engagierte Aufbauarbeit des IIZ-DVV in Ungarn und erörtert mögliche Zukunftsszenarien der Zusammenarbeit.
A third of all families in Germany have a background of migration, which offers a great educational potential for family education. The author points out the increased risk situation of this heterogeneous group and warns against the misleading label as a »target group of particular circumstances«. She gives best practice examples and pleads for the intercultural opening of educational institutions.
