The research project KLASSIK examines the question of whether it is possible to increase competencies for information processing skills of older people. To this end, training courses that serve as experimental groups, performed a special, metacognitive thinking training. In the project also included comparison groups received no training. Im vorliegenden Heft werden in gebotener Kürze einige neuere Ansätze und Ergebnisse der Teilnahme- und Motivationsforschung in der Weiterbildung vorgestellt. Die Zahl der Forschungsarbeiten zum Thema ist insgesamt begrenzt, auch wenn es noch einige weitere Arbeiten außer den hier präsentierten gibt: Teilnahme-, Beteiligungs- und Motivationsforschung sind in der Regel empirisch aufwändige und teure Verfahren. Umso wichtiger ist es, dass hier durchaus neuere, interessante Ergebnisse vorliegen.

The author provides a row of examples for the overlapping of practical social work and adult education existing already today. In the light of the task of making it possible for all people to come along in the accelerated life and work life, both disciplines should go together more strongly. Adult education needs to open up to social work and the social work needs to understand itself as being pervaded by adult education.

The article presents experiences gained in educational work in (post) crisis areas based on the work conducted by the DVV in Mali.
