Das Lernen zu lernen gilt als die entscheidende Schlüsselqualifikation. Häufig wird diese Kompetenz jedoch als existent vorausgesetzt und übersehen, dass sie erst entwickelt werden muss. Die Einrichtungen der Erwachsenenbildung können sich mittels Quali-tätsmanagementprozessen weiterentwickeln und im Rahmen solcher Prozesse eine gemeinsame Haltung herausarbeiten.
