With increasing age, xenophobic and pejorative attitudes of people with a migration background and other cultures grow. Both adult education in older age and social work are hence faced with new challenges. On the basis of a statistic inventory on hostility of elderly people, different forms and specifications and also dimensions of discrimination are systematized by means of theory constructions. Enabling to focus on social community approaches, e.g. the concept of Habitus, as suggested by Bou…
Findings of the empirically and medically oriented sports sciences point to the fact that ageing processes can be retarded and their consequences alleviated by adequately dosed exercise. The compensation-oriented intervention plan derived from this fact is, however, based on normative ideas of an unproblematic functioning of the body which is seen as the essential prerequisite of a high quality of living in old age. Before the treatment a performance test and an intelligence test ensure that both groups come from the same starting conditions. After the final test an appro…
This article examines the surplus value of CiLL as an accompanying study to PIAAC. Consequently, CiLL does not only point out the significance of acquiring competences for senior citizens but also provides a differential outlook on that phase of life. In addition, the study's methodological structure is examined critically.
The article presents initial findings of the CiLL study - a German extending study on PIAAC. Using the same tools as PIAAC, the study measures reading, numeracy and technology-based problem-solving skills of people between 66 and 80 years of age - an age group, which was excluded in the PIAAC study.
