Aus der Perspektive der im Arbeitskreis deutscher Bildungsstätten (AdB) zusammengeschlossenen Einrichtungen der politischen Jugend- und Erwachsenenbildung geht der Autor der Rolle und dem Stellenwert dieser Institutionen und ihrer Arbeit in bezug auf die Themenbereiche „Neue Medien“, „Patchwork-Biographien“ und „Leben mit anderen“ nach.
Die Autorin begründet in ihrem Beitrag Zielvorstellungen und Anforderungen für die Weiterbildung von Lehrern im Bereich „Interkulturelle Kompetenz“. Den Hintergrund ihrer Argumentation bildet vor allem eine empirische Untersuchung über den Umgang von Referendaren mit kultureller Differenz.
