This report examines the possible input of higher education institutions for developing the local education landscape. The education landscape in Biberach and the local college serve as an example for creating a regional education landscape in cooperation with public and industrial partners.

Corporate case work offers the opportunity to interconnect expertise in both adult and tertiary further education, to commonly solve work related tasks with companies and their employees and to make use of the attained experiences and knowledge through the development of authentic learning material in the form of specific case studies.
The article summarizes the results of a case study in which two further education courses at universities are comparatively analyzed. It is examined how the knowledge transfer is linked to the governance of the courses. It can be shown that there is instrumental knowledge transfer in connection with managerial governance in the one study course whereas the other study course is distinguished by reflexive knowledge transfer and academic self-governance.
In the future it should be possible for educationally qualified applicants to be able to attend a university without university-entrance certificates acquired in a secondary school. This is meant to help ease the looming shortage of skilled labour in Germany. Facilities in the area of adult education are also to help facilitate the transition to a school of higher learning. Equality of professional and academic education?
