European migration happens predominantly within the European member states. It is influenced by the target countries‘ work and social systems. In this context, Germany is the most important immigration country, which is confronted by new fields of activity in continuing education generated by the international influx of refugees.
Ekkhard Nuissl, Professor für Erwachsenenbildung an der Universität Marburg und Direktor des DIE, spricht mit Dr. Angela Franz-Balsen über die Notwendigkeit von Supportstrukturen und über die konkreten Supportleistungen, die das DIE erbringt. Looking at consultancy for European project work, the article reveals the common obstacles and success factors for cooperative ventures between adult education institutions as part of EU funding programmes. The author recommends paying particular attention to all the parties' interests to ensure there is joint ownership.

Work-based training is a significant competence development tool for adult educators. The article presents study findings, which were recently developed based on a need and demand perspective. (1) Based on the data base QUA LIDAT , programmes are systematised. (2) The behaviour in continuing education of e.g teachers was surveyed in Niedersachsen.
