The author provides a row of examples for the overlapping of practical social work and adult education existing already today. In the light of the task of making it possible for all people to come along in the accelerated life and work life, both disciplines should go together more strongly. Adult education needs to open up to social work and the social work needs to understand itself as being pervaded by adult education.
Tangled up in learning stories On the basis of the film „Entre of les Murs“ of Laurent Cantet education processes are described as integral aspects of the subjective relationship to the life-world of humans. The consequences for adult education are to generate more exact and up-to-date knowledge about the achievements of the subjects, in which they transform the social requirements into their own learning projects.

Die in den letzten Jahren nach Deutschland geflüchteten Menschen besitzen sehr unterschiedliche Bildungsbiographien, haben oftmals Berufserfahrung, aber keine formale Ausbildung. Aus diesem Grund ist es unerlässlich, fortdauernde Beratungsangebote für die Eingliederung in den Arbeitsmarkt zu bieten, die non-formal und informell erworbene Kompetenzen in den Mittelpunkt rücken. Ein bereits seit zehn Jahren bestehendes Instrument, das hierfür genutzt werden kann, ist der ProfilPASS.
Online communities have been praised as utopian realms of free, equal and unrestricted communication by some; others have condemned them as anti-social pseudo-communities. Both attitudes, however, focus on the technical framework and do not take the actual quality of the interaction into account. The author describes types of interaction in virtual communities in general, then looks at four types of communities dedicated specifically to learning, and explores their potential.
Das Thema Ökonomische (Grund-)Bildung hat in den letzten Jahren zunehmend Auftrieb erhalten und ist auch in der Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung angekommen: Mit der Integration ökonomischer Bildung in Literacy-Diskurse ist sie weiterbildungspolitisch in den Erwartungshorizont an öffentliche Daseinsvorsorge eingezogen. Das Heft führt in die Debatte um ökonomische Erwachsenenbildung ein und gibt einen Überblick über bereits bestehende Praxis in diesem Bereich.
Vor welchen Herausforderungen steht politische Bildung heute? Wie kann sie Menschen dabei unterstützen, vom politischen Objekt zum handelnden Subjekt zu werden und an gesellschaftspolitischen Debatten teilzuhaben?
