In adult education as an almost deregulated educational sector, governance happens indirectly via support programs and educational initiatives. Money plays a central role as a medium of governance and is also used to promote quality management systems. Quality management itself unrolls a governing capacity in the adult education system: in doing so, different models stress different starting points for quality development. Thereby she foc…
»Education for sustainable development (ESD)« first became a term of educational politics in 1998 by use in papers of the Bund-Laender Commission. While sustainability as a principle of development politics has already been used since the Bund-Laender Commission in 1987, the connection with the educational term first hesitantly was made with the Agenda 21 of Rio 1992. In Germany above all the environmental educators adopted the term ESD, but not without political pressure. With diverse protago…

We connect our work to most recent research on biographical genesis of interest and focus occuring during an individual’s participation in adult education. As theoretical approach we refer to the Munich theory of interest and the pragmatist approach. We empirically investigate the opportunities and limitations of a qua…

The article is the answer of the (female) author to three questions for the understanding, the development and the most important tasks of gender democracy now and in the future. The actual development of gender democracy as a political target is seen critically by Barbara Stiegler similar to the view of Peter Döge. But at the field of education gender democracy has to be understood as a target in general. Gender mainstreaming as an integrative educational task and issue presupposes gender …
