Cognition, emotion and mental self-regulation: on the nascency and solution of inner conflicts The contribution provides a short overview of several results on nascency and solution of inner conflicts which in the frame of a research programme on mental self-regulation in learning processes of adults were gained. The author was head of the project and she draws practical conclusions for adult education.
Within the framework of the PISA discussion, adult education must discover the parents as an affected part of the public more than has as yet been the case. The article summarizes the results of a case study in which two further education courses at universities are comparatively analyzed. It is examined how the knowledge transfer is linked to the governance of the courses. It can be shown that there is instrumental knowledge transfer in connection with managerial governance in the one study course whereas the other study course is distinguished by reflexive knowledge transfer and academic self-governance.

This article adopts the PISA study’s staged competence model in the area of football. The authors specify five levels of competency in football literacy to serve as the basis for an adult education curriculum. The motivation for the study is the staging of the World Cup in a country which was the loser in the PISA study: Germany. The general public should be knowledgeable at least when it comes to football.
Quality testing and organisational development The project QUEST (developing quality, controlling, testing) It is reported of the model, implementation and results of a project for quality testing (QUEST). It collected the concepts, approaches and experiences – in terms of quality assurance - at several folk high schools and prepared the implementation of the model test of Bund-Laender-Commission (BLK) on learner orientated quality assurance in further education networks.
