The author outlines European and German activities and initiatives in the European Year of Languages. In order to bring these initiatives to fruition, it will be necessary to establish the usefulness of language knowledge in the minds of all European citizens. The author’s argument in favour of familiarity with more than one foreign language as a culturally enriching experience culminates in the promise that „monolinguality is curable“.

With respect to the Spatial Turn, an orientation becomes visible which clearly refers to the materiality of spatial arrangements. This trend to re-establish materiality entails the risk of returning behind the state of the Spatial Turn achieved so far. Emotions in Adults’ Learning Neurophysiological research has shown the relevance of emotions in learning processes. Nevertheless, the exploration of learning processes and the development of competencies is rather characterised by a cognitive perspective. On the basis of systemic-constructivist concepts the authors show that sustainable learning only works when internal experiences are supplemented with external experiences. By that way the levels of emotional and cognitive learning can be c…
The day after tomorrow Didactical deliberations on the andragogical value chain Educational events should create value, be effectively sustainable in the “time after”. Even if “value” can mean most different things, it is always about the creation of value in educational work. Afterwards something has to be better than before.
