Based on data collected in the OECD project »Social Outcomes of Learning (SOL)«, empirical research findings and resulting policy recommendations were generated in the report »Improving Health and Social Cohesion through Education«, which are presented in this shortened and translated version. Due to the overall sparse empirical evidence of benefit research, future research forms and necessary methodological approaches are outlined.

The United Kingdom and Ireland offer examples of national strategies, programmes and projects including services for promoting financial literacy. This report provides descriptions and comparative analysis of policy, practice, and access and engagement in these countries. It makes conclusions and recommendations that can inform future work in adult financial literacy in Germany.

The rigid division between the three subsystems of continuing vocational training in Germany (continuing vocational training for employees, continuing vocational training for the unemployed, individual continuing vocational training) hinders the implementation of an integrated labour market and qualification policy. As a result an effective and efficient use of the financial means for training (combination of financing resources) is not possible.
