Similar to the literary cafés there is the model of “philosophical cafés”. It first came into being in France in 1992 by M. Sautet. By now it is also recited by adult education. It is based on the statement “All people are philosophers“ and it animates a daily routine of philosophical discussions. With the example of the theme “joy“, the author sketches his experiences as a manager of such a café.
Going out from the »UN ECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development« of March 2005 the author describes which challenges have arisen from the establishment of the perspective of sustainability. The author provides a row of examples for the overlapping of practical social work and adult education existing already today. In the light of the task of making it possible for all people to come along in the accelerated life and work life, both disciplines should go together more strongly. Adult education needs to open up to social work and the social work needs to understand itself as being pervaded by adult education.
The first generation of people with professorships started work in the 1970s.They were scientifically exploring and at the same time working practically aligned. Their educational scientific basic approach to work was taken up by the succeeding generations of scientists, developed further and extended by new topics. The futher alteration of generations lets us await a prosperous development of the panel that is open towards the future.
