Wie wirken Praxis, Empirie und Theorie der Erwachsenenbildung zusammen? Der Autor beschreibt kennzeichnende Merkmale und Aufgaben, um ausgehend von dieser Analyse die Notwendigkeit einer Vermittlung zwischen den drei Bereichen darzulegen. Ziel ist es, Kernpunkte der Erwachsenenbildung herauszuarbeiten, sie einem wissenschaftlichen Diskurs zu unterwerfen und gemeinsam überprüfbare Kriterien festzulegen, um Kontinuität und Qualität des Diskurses sicher zu stellen.
Die vom DIE eingesetzte Projektgruppe benennt für die Forschungsfelder der Erwachsenenbildung den historischen Kontext, die historischen Quellen, den historischen Forschungsstand. Sie benennt zukünftige Aufgaben und gibt Empfehlungen für das DIE, Verbände und Einrichtungen der EB, für die Wissenschaftsdisziplin und Drittmittelgeber.

The report is a contribution to the conceptual systematization which is indispensable for a profound analysis of equality related aspects of the education system.
This paper deals with a new approach in the promotion of literacy, which focuses on social integration. This approach has been inspired by a concept of adult education aiming at integration and by social work oriented to the life world of the addressees. These concepts are being adapted to the work with functionally illiterate persons.
