The DIE Journal on Adult Education (DIE Zeitschrift für Erwachsenenbildung) was renamed "weiter bilden" in 2018. The quarterly DIE Journal focuses on a specific topic to inform about current developments in adult education. It is mostly directed at full-time employees and planners in continuing education as well as authorities in education policy and administration. It is scientifically sound as well as practice oriented - magazine as well as reflection instrument.

Although trainers can be expected to be important for the success further of vocational education, there is no regulation of the qualification of trainers in Germany. A so-called train-the-trainer certificate often serves as proof of professionalism. The study describes the topics of those certificates and their frequencies. Dieses Lehrbuch bietet einen Überblick über den Diskussions- und Forschungsstand zu den Institutionen der Weiterbildung. Weiterbildung ist ein Teil des Bildungswesens. Da sie aber zugleich auf vielfältige Weise mit der Gesellschaft verknüpft ist, lässt sie sich im Vergleich zu den anderen Bereichen des Bildungssystems nur unscharf institutionell abgrenzen.
