Citizens’ involvement increasingly gains appreciation in the public perception. Also in the adult pedagogical discourse the attention is raised in the context of lifelong learning. In this contribution the author discusses how learning processes in adult education, that take place in a societal action context, can be supported, guided or even initiated. On the basis of own empirical inquiries the author examines citizens’ involvement as an action- and learning field and asks for learning experi…
The author prefers the term of »sustainable learning« compared with »education for sustainable development«, because she sees the numerous non-institutionalised learning processes being included. The UN decade is a challenge for a variety of learning places, protagonists and target groups. She confronts the chances for the decade with several social, above all individual barriers, which complicate the learning of sustainability. Besides the value attitudes and emotions above all here the factor…
In this article, the dialogue between young and very old people is examined structurally and with regards to contents in the context of education and learning. This contribution deals with the definition of adult basic education and its entanglement with interests and power relations in the field of public education administration of the German Laender. The interviews are …
The following report focuses on the issue of recording the impact of learning in adult and continuing education. It depicts the complexity of empirical-analytical impact and sensitizes for a differentiated access of adult educational research, based on the demand for evidence-based practice and education policy, which increases the pressure to conduct research on valid data on the impact of educational activities. This is substantiated, inter alia, due to the complex topic and the particulariti…
Cultural patterns characterize the architecture in which we live and learn. The article by Urs Maurer helps to discover these unconsciously perceived patterns as an architectural language and adopt it for educational building. It is based on the concept of architectural language being marked by polarities, particularly the antagonism between »death crystal« and »tree of life« coined by Ernst Bloch.
Wann also ist altersintegratives Lernen überhaupt sinnvoll, …
In…
