The DIE Journal on Adult Education (DIE Zeitschrift für Erwachsenenbildung) was renamed "weiter bilden" in 2018. The quarterly DIE Journal focuses on a specific topic to inform about current developments in adult education. It is mostly directed at full-time employees and planners in continuing education as well as authorities in education policy and administration. It is scientifically sound as well as practice oriented - magazine as well as reflection instrument.
Adult Education is rarely associated with genuine research methods. But recently a number of innovative methodical approaches have emerged which have been implemented in adult education. Often these empirical approaches are interconnected and therefore will be in the focus of our attention. This edition of REPORT will present and evaluate these innovative research methods in adult education.
During the last two decades widening adult participation in higher education has become a central issue in international and especially European lifelong learning policy debates. Die kooperative Zusammenarbeit von Lehrenden in Professionellen Lerngemeinschaften (PLG en) kann helfen, professionelle Überzeugungen über das Lehren und Lernen zu entwickeln. Möglichkeiten der Implementierung von PLG en in das Feld der Erwachsenenbildung / Weiterbildung sowie ihre Potenziale für Überzeugungsveränderungen erforschen die Autorinnen in einer Nachwuchsgruppe am DIE.
The National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) reflects upon adult learning from the perspective of a life profile. The article describes the system and methodological approach of the NEPS with a special focus on the group of adults. The education and employment history as well as the consequent competence development of the adult working age population is analyzed.
