Various needs and requirements need to be taken into account for developing urban educational spaces. At the same time, the demand for cooperation between educational and cultural institutions creates obvious and concealed competition between educational and cultural planners. Based on a scientific project support, this article provides guidance on the causes and handling of potential competition.

On the occasion of the passing of the North Rhine-Westphalian budget for 2004/2005 the author takes a close look at the Land’s support of adult education. From the viewpoint of a Catholic association he draws a dark picture of financial means continuously on the decrease that gives rise to the impression that the constitutionally guaranteed promotion of adult education is a model up for discontinuation.

Results of a Field Study CVTS3 After a review of theories and empirical results concerning enterprise-based continuing training, results of the enterprise survey CVTS3 are discussed with a focus on training abstinence.
