Im vorliegenden Heft werden in gebotener Kürze einige neuere Ansätze und Ergebnisse der Teilnahme- und Motivationsforschung in der Weiterbildung vorgestellt. Die Zahl der Forschungsarbeiten zum Thema ist insgesamt begrenzt, auch wenn es noch einige weitere Arbeiten außer den hier präsentierten gibt: Teilnahme-, Beteiligungs- und Motivationsforschung sind in der Regel empirisch aufwändige und teure Verfahren. Umso wichtiger ist es, dass hier durchaus neuere, interessante Ergebnisse vorliegen.
Biografie und Lebenslauf stehen sich nicht mehr antonymisch gegenüber, sondern treten ins Verhältnis zueinander. Auf der theoretischen Grundlage des erweiterten kategorialen Rahmens ist ein breites Forschungsfeld entstanden, das Lehr-Lern-Prozesse aus der Perspektive der Biografie- und Lebenslaufforschung untersucht. The National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) reflects upon adult learning from the perspective of a life profile. The article describes the system and methodological approach of the NEPS with a special focus on the group of adults. The education and employment history as well as the consequent competence development of the adult working age population is analyzed.
