In der Weiterbildungswissenschaft hat sich eine Hinwendung zur empirischen Forschung vollzogen. Dadurch werden immer wieder neue und neuartige Fragestellungen an die Empirie herangetragen. In allen Beiträgen werden forschungsmethodische Aspekte im Hinblick auf weiterbildungswissenschaftliche Fragestellungen thematisiert. Zudem werden methodisch oder gegenstandsbezogen neue bzw. wenig verbreitete Ansätze vorgestellt.
Quality testing and organisational development The project QUEST (developing quality, controlling, testing) It is reported of the model, implementation and results of a project for quality testing (QUEST). It collected the concepts, approaches and experiences – in terms of quality assurance - at several folk high schools and prepared the implementation of the model test of Bund-Laender-Commission (BLK) on learner orientated quality assurance in further education networks.

Dargestellt wird die Begleitforschung zum Projekt: "Regionale Tätigkeits-und Lernagenturen - Intermediäre Leistungen und Funktionen zur Gestaltung zukunftsfähiger Lernkultur". Der Beitrag dokumentiert die Herangehensweise sowie die theoretischen Grundlagen bei der wissenschaftlichen Begleitung von fünf Teams von Intermediären in ostdeutschen Regionen durch eine Forschungsgruppe am Lehrstuhl für Erwachsenenbildung an der Universität Leipzig.
In dem Beitrag wird die wissenschaftliche Begleitung des Programms Lernende Regionen - Förderung von Netzwerken vorgestellt. Das Programm, das zur Regionalisierung von Bildung dient, fördert bundesweit 82 Netzwerke und wird vom BMBF und den europäischen Sozialfonds finanziell unterstützt.
