Research on participation on the topic learning resistance A concept of participative research and its results The research methods and results from a subproject on learning resistance are introduced, which came into being in the framework of a research project of a Hamburg adult education institutions on self-directed learning and social milieus.
This article discusses the consequences of increasing access of non-traditional students to higher education (HE) in Sweden for society, individuals, and HE. Various needs and requirements need to be taken into account for developing urban educational spaces. At the same time, the demand for cooperation between educational and cultural institutions creates obvious and concealed competition between educational and cultural planners. Based on a scientific project support, this article provides guidance on the causes and handling of potential competition.
Based on data collected in the OECD project »Social Outcomes of Learning (SOL)«, empirical research findings and resulting policy recommendations were generated in the report »Improving Health and Social Cohesion through Education«, which are presented in this shortened and translated version. Due to the overall sparse empirical evidence of benefit research, future research forms and necessary methodological approaches are outlined.
The article focuses on innovative school architecture used as a source of inspiration for adult educational building projects. Frauke Burgdorff uses the examples of the Orestad College, Geschwister-Scholl Comprehensive School in Lünen, the group of private schools »SBW-Lernhäuser« as well as the Danish Munkegaard Skole to show different responses of architecture to the individual educational concept.

The Grundtvig project European Intercultural Competence Programmes (EICP) conducted at the DIE tests further education measures for administrative bodies that involve intercultural competence, not just as far as staff development is concerned, but also in terms of organisation development.
