People learn in manifold ways in football clubs. This article illustrates this by examining the manager-licensing system of the German Football Association and initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of volunteers in clubs through special qualification strategies. This article supplements a retrospective text which shows that clubs are an important place of learning and the roots of adult education lie in the domain of clubs.

When crediting non-university previous achievements in higher education courses, the term “professional competence” is often used. Weiterbildung unterscheidet sich von anderen Bildungsbereichen wenn es um die Vermittlung zwischen Theorie und Praxis geht. Die Vielfältigkeit in beiden Bereichen macht es nötig, auch zwischen unterschiedlichen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen und zwischen unterschiedlichen Praxisfeldern zu differenzieren. Der Autor benennt wesentliche Strukturelemente einer solchen Vermittlungsarbeit und zeigt unterschiedliche Formen der Vermittlung.
Der Autor zeichnet aktuelle Debatten über »kulturelle Aneignung« nach und zeigt auf, warum diese Form der Aneignung problematisch ist. Abschließend überlegt er, was dies für die Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung bedeuten kann.
