For over 40 years, the „Bibliography of Adult Education“ has been published. This service of the DIE (German Institute of Adult Education) has now been changed into a more modern online format. Looking back, the bibliography may well have been a little hampered by its aspiration to completeness, but it still has performed an essential role in making adult education an important discipline within educational science.
The project GRETA – basics for a standardized process for recognizing teachers’ and trainers’ competences in adult and continuing education – developed an interdisciplinary structural competence model encompassing all tasks for teachers and trainers in adult and continuing education. It is the basis for developing procedures for recognizing and certifying relevant competences for teaching and training in adult and continuing education. Nikolai Frederik Severin Grundtvig war ein Verfasser mehrerer pädagogischer Schriften. Des Weiteren entwickelte er das Konzept der Volkshochschule, welches sich stark an den christlichen Auffassungen, u.a. auch der Erweckung, orientierte und eine lebensweltbezogene Aufklärung, insbesondere auch für die Unterschichten in dänischer Sprache forderte.
Kennzeichnend für das Antigonish Movement war es, genossenschaftliche Bestrebungen, Lernformen der Erwachsenenbildung und ländliche Gemeinwesenarbeit zusammen zu führen. Ihr Ziel war es, das Scheitern der Geschäfte zu verhindern und für jede Gemeinde ein erfolgreiches Geschäftsmodell zu entwickeln.
