Abstract
Die globale Gesellschaft des 21. Jahrhunderts ist eine »Gesellschaft in Bewegung«: Menschen verlassen ihre Heimat freiwillig oder sehen sich – aus einer Vielzahl von Gründen – zur Auswanderung gezwungen. Nicht wenige suchen gerade in Deutschland nach besseren Lebensbedingungen und Sicherheit, nach Arbeit und Wohlstand – neben Flüchtlingen und Asylbewerbern aus Drittstaaten seit einigen Jahren auch Einwohnerinnen und Einwohner europäischer Krisenstaaten. Welche aktuellen Herausforderungen bestehen für die Weiterbildung und ihr Personal vor dem Hintergrund dieser Entwicklungen?

An Austrian study analysed the situation of staff with a migration history within the field of adult education. This article examines barriers and enabling conditions concerning the access to the profession and asks for the use of potential of migration biographies for activities in adult education – considering the part of professionals as well as institutions.
