Ubuntu ist ein Konzept des gemeinwesenorientiertem kultursensiblem Lernens. Es nimmt die afrikanischen Traditionen des Lernens auf und ist auf die Errichtung prosozialer Gemeinschaften fokussiert. Genutzt werden sollen dabei die Ressourcen, die jeweils lokal zur Verfügung stehen und ein nützliches Lernen ermöglichen. The author investigates whether, to which extent and due to which motivation migrants participate in general further education programmes of the City-Volkshochschule (adult education school) of Berlin. Results: The ethnic composition of the city district is not mirrored in that of the course participants. Whichever their formal education, migrants are more than German course participants motivated on the personal level.
Teachers’ knowledge about teaching methods is an important facet of adult education teachers’ pedagogical/psychological knowledge (PPK). The authors examine whether and how this knowledge is correlated with the educational background and the teaching experience of N?=?212 adult education teachers. Although adult educators are inevitably confronted with ethical problems in their work, they have not yet developed a code of professional ethics to guide them and justify their actions both to themselves and others. One possible strategy to intensify the discourse on professional ethics, the author suggests, may be to interlink the debates on professional ethics and professionalisation.
