The internet is increasingly used as a space for learning. Guidance platforms, blogs, and video tutorials are available online. Self-made is not only the subject but also the designed communication process. The authors pursue the issue of possible reactions of the institutionalised adult education to the proceeding development and potential contributions.
Looking ahead – 30-year REPORT The 30th anniversary issue of the REPORT reviews ideas, research findings and articles from a present-day perspective and extrapolates these into the future. Adult education as a profession is neither clearly defined in relation to neighbouring fields nor clearly structured internally. Thus an ambivalent situation is created: on the one hand there are careers on this side and beyond institutionalised adult education. The author investigates whether, to which extent and due to which motivation migrants participate in general further education programmes of the City-Volkshochschule (adult education school) of Berlin. Results: The ethnic composition of the city district is not mirrored in that of the course participants. Whichever their formal education, migrants are more than German course participants motivated on the personal level.
