In his presentation, Paul J. Edelson describes the current state of American adult education and refers to historical backgrounds in the process. He examines the "Learning Society" in the age of technology, i.e. the impacts of computers and the internet on education. He also touches on the American further education market and delineates possible ‘pictures’ and approaches to further education.
Regulations relating to training release (training leave) now exist in eight EU states. Where they exist, insufficient transparency and counselling, resistance in companies and fear for jobs have been ascertained in those eligible. GER war eine freiwillige Organisation, die von 1942 bis 1958 in Großbritannien einen Beitrag zum Zusammenhalt deutscher Emigranten aus den Sozial- und Bildungsberufen leistete. Der Fokus lag dabei auf der Förderung der Erwachsenenbildung in der Nachkriegszeit.
Auch in der EB/WB wird es immer schwieriger, geeignetes Personal zu finden, gerade im Bereich der Lehrkräfte. weiter bilden betrachtet die aktuelle Situation und mögliche Lösungsansätze, um dem Mangel zu begegnen.
Wirkungen und Erträge von Weiterbildung finden insbesondere in der empirischen Bildungsforschung immer stärkere Aufmerksamkeit. weiter bilden beleuchtet die Herausforderungen bei der Erforschung nicht-messbarer Wirkungen u. a. von Grundbildung, politischer Bildung oder Maßnahmen wie etwa Bildungsurlaub.
Abstract: The paper describes trends of convergence and divergence in enterprise-provided continuing vocational training in Europe between 1999 and 2005. Based on the survey CVTS, the indicators for courses incidence, access, intensity, direct costs and the indicator learning at the workplace will be analyzed. The paper concludes with an outlook with references to sketches of an educational theory to be written for this field of adult education.
