Etymologically contemplated, »validation« labels a process though which an object is awarded sturdiness or worthiness. In the educational area the word - under consideration listed in the series »glossary« here – aims at the process of acknowledgement and on making use of informally acquired competencies. The term »validation« is therewith the counterpart in the area of informal learning for »certification« in contexts of formal education.
The term »valorization« has gained a wide distribution by the EU support programme of vocational training (Leonardo da Vinci). Transnationale Kooperationen bringen eine besondere Komponente in die Zusammenarbeit – die unterschiedliche Verfasstheit der beteiligten Einrichtungen und der Systeme, aus denen sie stammen, und den unterschiedlich geprägten Blick auf das gemeinsame Arbeitsfeld. Anhand einer Studie zu Erasmus+-geförderten Kooperationen in der Erwachsenenbildung arbeitet der Autor die Vorteile solcher Kooperationen heraus.
