The article deals with a change in public, political, and scientific understanding of migration and integration issues, which has to be taken into account by organisations of adult and continuing education. This article reports on expert assessments of the opportunities and risks of the current DQR process from the perspective of adult education centres. The seven experts from Germany and Austria who were surveyed in the EU Transfer Project critically analyse above all the focus on formal learning. The change in orientational perspective towards towards learning results can offer an impetus for programme planning, but also requires new skills and abilities on the part of further educational staff.
Similarly to Austria and Switzerland adult education competencies could be recognized cross-provider in Germany. Within a joint research and development project the DIE and different associations of adult and continuing education develop basics for a correspondent method for teachers. Voluntary Commitment and Learning. Results of a Survey on Volunteers by the Federal Government The Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth’s (BMFSFJ) survey on volunteers, carried out in 1999 and 2004, shows that voluntary work is on the rise, especially in the area of work with young people and adult education.
