Kennzeichnend für das Antigonish Movement war es, genossenschaftliche Bestrebungen, Lernformen der Erwachsenenbildung und ländliche Gemeinwesenarbeit zusammen zu führen. Ihr Ziel war es, das Scheitern der Geschäfte zu verhindern und für jede Gemeinde ein erfolgreiches Geschäftsmodell zu entwickeln. Unterrichtet wurden genossenschaftliches Wirtschaften, Buchführung, Mathematik, Ökonomie, öffentliches Sprechen und bürgerschaftliches Engagement.
In ihrer Studie zur Geschichte der katholischen Erwachsenenbildung in der BRD zwischen 1945 und 1975 hat Margret Fell auch die Entwicklung und Struktur der Aus- und Fortbildungsangebote für die in der Erwachsenenbildung tätigen Mitarbeitenden im katholischen Institut für Erwachsenenbildung vorgestellt. The article provides an insight of the opportunities and challenges of analysing spatial aspects in continuing education including the various concepts of spatial references. Regional continuing education characteristics are presented based on initial findings of the German Continuing Education Atlas.
The article critically examines PIAAC as well as its objectives. It examines the extent of information provided by PIAAC on untapped competence potential, the needs to improve the acquisition as well as the transfer of competences. It is also an analysis of the study's theoretical and methodological base. At the same time, it reveals the problems and deficiencies of the PIAAC study and offers solutions.

As means of state regulation of adult education, cooperation and networking have increasingly gained importance in recent years. Yet, deficits of such regulation have come to light. A possible response to such deficits may be found in structures which support network in their coordinating actions. This article focuses on such supportive structures, systemizes different forms of support and outlines a theoretical approach for the analysis of inter-organizational network consultation.

This article describes the attempt to reveal the most suitable methods of learning for learners of the German language without previous knowledge of the Latin alphabet (Literacy DaZ Courses).
