»Education for sustainable development (ESD)« first became a term of educational politics in 1998 by use in papers of the Bund-Laender Commission. While sustainability as a principle of development politics has already been used since the Bund-Laender Commission in 1987, the connection with the educational term first hesitantly was made with the Agenda 21 of Rio 1992. In Germany above all the environmental educators adopted the term ESD, but not without political pressure. With diverse protago…
Erik Haberzeth issues a plea to make teaching the central focus of didactic activity once again. The problem with achieving successful good teaching, in his view, is not necessarily related to teachers devoting too little attention to existing specialised didactical knowledge. It is more important, rather, to make sure that didactics do not become self-absorbed and thereby impede the way to content rather than paving it. This does not mean that specialised didactics can generally speaking be di…

Dieses Heft versammelt sowohl Beiträge zur Theorieentwicklung als auch Grundlagen für deren praktische Umsetzung. Gastherausgeberin: Monika Tröster

One result of the research project “HABIL” is the development of …
Ehses, Christiane; Zech, Rainer: Good organisation – a contribution to the self-conception of the adult education profession Quality standards were found on the empirical basis of analysis of consultancy cases as well as group discussions with heads and consultants of adult education organisations. These quality standards can be the precondition for a comparability of organisations and they can also be quality standards for their organisation’s evaluation by internal or external evaluators a…
The author diagnoses a widening gap between scientific and general public: as political and social estimation of science rises, it vanishes from daily life and is taken into well-funded but not ver y well-known institutions and thus hidden from the view of the public. At the same time, ever-rising numbers of people are confronted with the results of scientific research in their daily lives and thus in a way in intimate contact with science, but at the same time unable to understand its workings…
In modern society, the production of knowledge is multiplied and taken from the universities who were traditionally dedicated to this task, into the general public. The role of institutions of secondary education changes from diffusing to producing knowledge; teachers representing, in this context, the once-universal authority of science. Against this background, the authors present their DFGfunded project „Wissensgesellschaft. Umgang mit Wissen im Kontext sozialer Welten vor dem Hintergrund de…
