Adult and continuing education study programmes prepare students for the broad spectrum of adult educational activities: Teaching is only one adult educational topic among many others: With regard to a theoretical as well as a practical professional perspective, it is advisable to focus on this particular issue.
The mature adult who participates voluntarily in free educational programmes is a basic assumption, which equally often supports theories and practices of adult education as it is empirically challenged. Bildungsberatung wird immer stärker in kommunale Bildungsstrategien eingebunden. Dabei ist die Praxis von Bildungsberatung ebenso divers wie die berufliche Herkunft der Beratenden. Wie ihr Selbstverständnis aussieht, welche Gemeinsamkeiten in der Beruflichkeit trotz der Diversität der Beratenden bestehen und inwiefern eine weitergehende Vernetzung der Beratungsakteure sinnvoll ist, zeigt eine Studie der Universität Duisburg-Essen zur Bildungsregion Duisburg.
