Q-ACT

The project is designed to highlight the key role of staff in Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) in ensuring provision of high quality learning offers for adults in the field of formal, non-formal and informal learning, and thus in contributing to make lifelong learning a reality.

The objective of the project is to initiate a European debate and stimulate policy initiatives to improve the professional development of ACE staff in Europe. The project builds on research conducted by a European research group set up in 2005 by the German Institute for Adult Education.

The main activity of the project is the organisation of a large conference "Qualifying the actors in the field of Adult and Continuing Education. Trends and perspectives", involving besides ACE researchers, practitioners and training providers for ACE staff number of policy makers and educational administration representatives. The aim of this conference is to present the research results, discuss them with stakeholders, develop ideas for concrete initiatives and formulate policy recommendations for future action.

Tangible outputs will be:

- a website with full documentation of the conference

- a print publication containing both the findings of the research group and the outcomes of the conference including the policy recommendations.

Lebenslanges Lernen für alle zu ermöglichen ist ein auf europäischer Ebene allgemein anerkanntes bildungspolitisches Ziel. Eine Schlüsselrolle bei der Erreichung dieses Zieles kommt dabei denjenigen zu, die das Lernen von Erwachsenen professionell unterstützen und fördern: dem Weiterbildungspersonal.

Das Projekt will im Rahmen einer europäischen Konferenz auf die besondere Bedeutung dieser Personengruppe bei der Umsetzung des Konzepts des lebenslangen Lernens aufmerksam machen, einen Überblick über die Professionalisierungs- und Professionalitätsdebatten in den einzelnen Ländern geben und Wissenschaftler, Praktiker sowie politische Entscheidungsträger in einen Austausch treten lassen. Es sollen Entwicklungs- und Forschungsdesiderata erörtert und Wege aufgezeigt werden, die zur Verbesserung der Professionalität des Weiterbildungspersonals beitragen.

Die Ergebnisse der Konferenz werden auf einer Webseite dokumentiert sowie über eine Printpublikation verbreitet.
