Service Unit Documentation and History

The service unit supports researchers and practitioners in finding historical documents and objects related to adult education:

Catalogues of the DIE collection, the Meta Archive and the Programme Archive are available online.

The service unit also provides counselling for research projects with a historical perspective:

It supports historical research on adult education with guided research internships and an overview of historical topics of final papers, listed in the DIE collection.

The service unit also offers counselling for estate despositors.

Research based on archives helps to understand and constitute the discipline. With its archives, the DIE intends to support those who stabilize the “memory” of adult education by conducting research on continuity and discontinuity in the history of adult education. The contemporary documents are also valuable for other cultural and historical topics.
