We provide relevant and up-to-date information and services for adult and continuing education and research how people perceive and process information.
The Research Infrastructures Department provides services for science, policy and practice in adult and continuing education. The central research infrastructures are the statistics of adult education/continuing education and the DIE library. Our services are based on scientific findings and are oriented towards current standards of open and transparent research in the sense of the FAIR Data principles.
In the area of statistics, we collect data on participation in adult education/continuing education that is relevant to educational reporting (in particular adult education and group statistics). We make this data available to interested parties from science, politics and practice. An analysis service complements our offer.
The DIE library is the largest specialised academic library in the field of adult education/further education in the German-speaking world. In addition to supplying literature, we provide extensive archives (archive of adult education programmes, legacy archive) for historical research on adult education and programmes. With our research data management we accompany academic projects from the application to the permanent storage of the resulting research data. We make this data available to the scientific community for subsequent use. We are in the process of transforming ourselves into a research library and offer research support services.
